Proposal: After School and Artist Studios
Location: Seville Place

This thesis looks to explore the processes of gentrification and globalisation focusing on the effect that it has on the local community. It does this through the design of a building that houses an after school for local children and artists studios. The brief looks to create an environment for the docklands community to build back their own communal and individual identities, after suffering from years of generational poverty and the erosion of their identity through disinvestment, unemployment and a changing landscape. The design looks to stitch itself into both its context and community while pushing the boundaries of scale in its surroundings. Exploring the materiality of the design by creating connections within and around the site.
